PK Comments

Ritter's 'var. nuda' was not taken up by other authors. In habitat it is possible to find the occasional spineless specimen, not just of C. columna-alba, but of most Copiapoa, especially those of the Cinerea group. This includes normally spined plants, with spineless off-sets, or plants that seem to have experienced a period of growth during which spines did not develop.

I am not aware that this feature comes true from seed.
