PK Comments
During our Copiapoathons, we would see these plants
along the road that climbs east from Paposo into the coastal hills, eventually joining up with Ruta 5,
the Panamerican Highway, south of Antofagasta. These plants were covered in
heavy dust thrown up by the passing transport. C. eremophila and C.
tenebrosa from Taltal were named by Ritter as high altitude plants related
to C. cinerea. The differences between these taxa are minimal.
