Original Description

Cactaceae Syst. Initiatives 13: 15 (2002)

Copiapoa decorticans N.P. Taylor & Charles species nova ex affinitate C. marginatae sed caulibus decumbentibus decorticans differt.
Holotypus: Chile, Antofagasta, c. 70 km N of Paposo, Quebrada Botija, 7 June 1990, A. Hoffmann et al. s.n.
(K, box -Herbarium Cactaceae Database no. 4182).

Distribution

Only known from the hills around the Quebrada Botija
